Dancing Queen the gayest song ever?

Last night I managed to persuade the work crowd to attend the music quiz in Pravda for oxfam, thought it might be a bit of fun and for a good cause. And it was good crack. There weren’t many people at it though, I think about 8 tables but we had a laugh, even if our work mates finished way ahead of us. I wouldn’t mind only the first round was all Kylie and Madonna questions and our gay workmate couldn’t answer any of them. Then he got distracted by the rugby magazine I bought for Mammy2. I think he thought I bought it for the child bearing shoulders. Which might be true if there were any decent pics in it. I also bought the Ireland’s Own. I haven’t seen a copy of that since my nana was around. She used to read it a lot. Apparently, my picture was in it once, they had a cute baby pic section at the back and they sent my pic in. Aren’t all babies cute?

miriam8tv.jpgOur man and as it happens my Miriam contact txted me last night to tell me I should check out the Ireland’s Own. Enroute to the quiz, I stopped off at the local spar and sure enough who was on the front of the mag, only the lovely woman herself. I then had to explain to some of the workmates who aren’t familar with my obession who she was and why she is fabulous. They are non-believers though. They are still stuck at the whole 8 kids thing. Some people, eh? It would be wrong of me to talk about her and not put in a picture.

I see Dancing Queen has been named the gayest song ever. I have to say I am surprised. I would have though the village people had that one down. I’d say they are unimpressed. The list threw up a few surprises. The top 20 songs were

20. 9 to 5 - Dolly Parton

19. Free, Gay and Happy - Coming Out Crew

18. In the Navy - Village People

17. Relax - Frankie Goes To Hollywood

16. Macho Man - Village People

15. Over The Rainbow - Judy Garland

14. Smalltown Boy - Bronski Beat

13. I’m Coming Out - Diana Ross

12. Believe - Cher

11. I Am What I Am - Gloria Gaynor

10. I Love The Nightlife - Alicia Bridges

9. Vogue - Madonna

8. Xanadu - Olivia Netwon-John

7. Better The Devil You Know - Kylie Minogue

6. Go West - Pet Shop Boys

5. Your Disco Needs You - Kylie Minogue

4. It’s Raining Men - The Weathergirls

3. I Will Survive - Gloria Gaynor

2. YMCA - Village People

1. Dancing Queen - ABBA

Would you believe some of them I haven’t heard of? I know. My sapphic card is winging its way back to the association as I type. The last few days I’ve been wrecked. Work is full on as I try to get my project finished. Its difficult to write an XML Parser when the XML is invalid. So I am stalled at the moment. I decided to use my time to read up on MODX, the new CMS which everyone is raving about. Its quite nifty I have to say with modules and plugins that are as straightforward as the documentation says. I am well impressed with it.

In other news, Westmeath end barren period in fine style :D. Not since 1973 have we managed to beat Meath. And not just beat them. Down to 14 men in the second half AND without Dessie Dolan who injured his hamstring. How fab are we? As the mate J said, in your face Meath!I think it would be fair to say there is a fairly healthy rivalery between ourselves and Meath. Hoping to catch up with J next week as the last 2 weeks have been mad for her. She had the gf’s bday celebrations and then she was a tad broke so couldn’t make training. We’re going to meet up next week hopefully for some yummy potato bravas and chats.
