Shopping with the kid
Yesterday was to be sister’s night, not necessarily day and night but when the kid rang on Thursday to enquire what time we would be meeting at to ‘go shopping’ I started to have flashbacks. Glaring at security guards for checking her out. Going to the ATM more then 4 times in one. Trying to ignore phrases like ‘But I NEED it Shelly, you don’t understand and so on..You get the idea. However, she’s an adult now I said to myself. She has her own money. She’s paying us back also money from her infamous tab. So going shopping with her means I would gain some money rather then lose it. It didn’t explain how I ended up putting 125 on laser with her paying me back for these gorgeues boots that I do not know how she walked in. Things have changed though. I met her at Eason’s where she was waiting for her man. She had to get cash from me as she couldn’t cash her cheque, so I told her we would lodge it into our account and give her the money. She gave most of it her ma, as he was taking care of the rent money and also putting aside some of her money so they could go clothes shopping next week. Bless his cottens. Eason’s art section is our first port of call and the difference with her is funny. Normally, she would pick stuff up, bundle it into my arms and stand nonchantly back whilst I ignored the laser card doing press ups as I handed it over. This time, she was adding up the cost of each paint brush and pencil. And she was only out by a euro. I was impressed
and I also astounded by how much more enjoyable shopping was when it wasn’t our money she was spending. From Eason’s to a few clothes shop she just wanted to check stuff out. Again, I had some cold sweats, but she was aware she had something like 7 euros left. Suddenly a corset she wanted for AGES appeared as if from nowhere and suddenly I was buying it. It was only 10 euros. We had to stop off a shoes shop where she spotted her favourite boots ever. I had a pain just looking at them. Cue a phone call to the boyf, firstly telling him how much she loved him and then could she possibly have some of the money she gave him to buy the boots and didn’t he know he was the best boyf ever. Etc. It worked and she got the boots.
We headed home exhuasted from all the shopping. I had to cook her favourite, mashed potatoes and onion gravy. Also she wanted a lesson in how to cook mash, as the boy’s mother had tried it but it didn’t work. To add insult yo injury she had tried to also offer the kid Smash. God, I hate even talking about it. Smash? Anyhew, the kid worked up updating her myspace profile with some HTML I had taught her whilst I prepared the table for dinner. Some lessons in mashing and seasoning and she was well chuffed with her mash. Dinner over, more html and then down to watch some horror movies. The first movie lasted all of 5 minutes it was so bad. Ordinarily, if we had paid money for it with renting it out, we’d watch it even it was crap. But this was so bad. How many cliches can one fit in the first 5 minutes as well as some of the worst acting ever. You know things are bad when you can’t even read the production company and its intentional. Also the ‘actors’ are written in size .1 em font. Chances are so no-one will ever remember them from this shocking farcial story. Here’s a ‘publicity shot’ of the actresses.

The one on the left is the good sister, the one in the middle, the bad drug addict ‘I owe the good sister a lot of money sister, the one on the right didn’t even make it into the first 5 minutes. Paddy Power have ceased all bets on how long she’s going to last. We quickly abandonded Lake Dead for a stephen king one, The Mist. Not exactly new hair style worthy but entertaining enough. The old what’s out there, we’re all trapped in a supermarket and let the religious nut commence spouting about the end of the world type entertaining. The twist in the ending was unpredictable and a bit of a head feck. She wants us to watch the new version of the Eye next. I know the original version gave me a new hair style so I am looking forward to seeing how hollywood treats it. The scene in the
lift was shocking. That’s all I am saying.
I was a tad on the hungover side this morning but was determined to make training. I did go , but lord every time I hit the bag, I felt it in the back of my head. Thankfully the body has recovered and we are all set for our dinner later with A and S. Looking forward to catching up with them. Nothing else planned for the weekend, lots of QT and catching up on some movies. The sister K and her man headed off to Argentina yesterday. I’m going to miss her online and txting her, as she’s not bringing her phone. Something about a dodgy provider. The boyf is bringing his in case of emergency. I’d say they will have a great time, the sister has always had the travelling bug. I’m not so bothered, always being a home bird. I look forward to my fridge magnet increasing in size.
