Bemused by the weather

We’re irish so we talk about it a lot. And I mean a lot. From hairdressers to taxi drivers, when they are not being distracted by the foreigners that is. So I won’t spend much time on it except to say wtf? Yesterday, I opted for short sleeved top and summer jacket. The sunshine in the morning on the
way to work approved of my decision. The hailstones at lunch time had other ideas. The blue sky in the afternoon confirmed my thoughts and the biting wind on the way home last night laughed at them. This morning it was out with the warm hoody and the other jacket. I am just about ready for whatever is thrown my way. Just about. Thankfully I survived yesterday. Just about. A mother of all hangovers, self inflicted so I have no sympathy for myself. I blame drinking wine on a boat. Its more potent or so I tell myself. I was very ill yesterday. Nothing was done. I was just about able to sit at the pc and type. However the latest arrival in the post made me crawl out from under my hangover to play. The new ipod nano arrived and so there was much oohing and aahing and setting it up. Its very slick. Of course I got an error message in the first 10 minutes. And only when copying certain songs like Westlife. Some might say the ipod was programmed for certain music. I ignore the some. As it turns out, the ipod didn’t like any other usb connections whilst it was updating. Diva ipod! So he’s called Mork and he seems to be fitting in quite well.

Yesterday, hungover and all that I was, we had to go out for the mate S’s belated bday drinkies. Luigi’s for a bite to eat and then onto the new cocktail bar. It was a good night, I was feeling more freshed after an hour in bed before we headed out. I was writing my will in my head. I blamed everything from the in-laws keeping us out too late, because that’s a likely excuse, to a bad pint. Another equally plausible excuse. I was tucked up in bed by 10.30 last night though, S doesn’t go wild of a school night. We should take some lessons from her. But its Friday and I was up early doing some work on one of my sites. Its one of the biggest ones in the portfolio and I really want them to move to a CMS managed site. Its so big it would make my life a lot easier if they did. I have mentioned it, but they are quite busy at the moment with legislation for civil unions and what not. Another one of the sites I worked on are having celebratory drinks tonight in the Front Lounge and invited us along but I think we might give it a miss. I fancy either a workout or the couch. I think Mammy2 might be heading to her gym and she has a few passes to bring a friend so I could go along and check out their swimming pool. That way I won’t be completly petrifed when I start lessons. That’s the idea at any rate.

Big weekend sports wise with my team, Westmeath taking on the dirty dubs are they are being called as a result of the scuffle last weekend with Meath. I don’t know what the hullaballo is all about. Anyone that knows anything about the GAA know that when Meath and Dublin get together its anything but pretty. Its always a fierce affair with the odd handbag incidents. I think though with at least 5 of the Dub’s best players suspended we have a really good chance of beating them. We were walloped in the O’Byrne cup at the start of the year, and narrowly beaten at the start of the league by them, so I think its our turn. The game is on in Navan and I would like to see it but we’ll see how we
are fixed tomorrow. Mammy2 has been wrecked for the last few days so we might just chill out at home. Hopefully one of the tv stations might be showing it. What am I talking about , sure Dublin are playing, they’ll always show it :) And then Munster take on Saccrens on Sunday, Mammy2 being a Leinster fan won’t cheer for Munster, I’m just an irish rugby fan with no real loyalty to any province so I’ll cheer on the boys in red. Hopefully it will be a good game and they get into the final. Between all the sport, I’m hoping to get some quality time with Juno. Depending on the weather’s mood, if its nice I can take her up town. Either that or I can get up early one morning and stroll up to Stephen’s green park and take some pics when its empty. Well empty apart from the ducks who are gagging for a bit of conversation.
