Weekend lie-ins
This weekend as a result of no work I had a lie-in. Although Mammy2 said she wouldn’t constitute 10.30 as a lie-in. Then again she is fond of her sleep. She was heading up town to leave the car in to be cleaned and waxed and so I decided to tackle the kids room. When we had tided the last time, we just bunged everything into the wardrobe hence whenever you opened it, everything felt out. It might not bother some people, it did me. I was a lot more relaxed then Friday night. Stress levels were high
due to my lovely work again. I was taking the flak or scooping up after people who didn’t do their job. Ordinarily I couldn’t give a damn who does what work and who comes in at whatever time. What you do is your business in the workplace. But when it affects other peoples work then it annoys me. How to build morale within the team. As a result of working late on the Friday, I didn’t get home until 7.30 when the Leinster game kicked off at. So we didn’t have time to go to Baggot Street and watch the game. We managed to catch some of the game though. Mammy2 was happy out whilst I simmerd with anger and tried to calm myself down. On Friday and over the weekend I had convinced myself that I was going to talk to my manager about it. How does one tell on another workmate. I don’t think it would be good for morale within the team as we are quite small. So I guess I’ll say nothing. And explode the next time I have to work with this person.
We had a nephew’s bday bash on Saturday, I tried out Juno’s vast array of settings. She behaved well and the pictures are excellent quality.I tried it out on the kid later. Herself and the boyf dropped around as they were staying over and wanted to leave a bag. They were heading to Fibbers for
a mates 21st. She was all talk about how she hates her course and her rabbits are pregnant again. Full of the joys of life as always. They got in around 4. I had left some of her stuff out in a bag for her to go through. At some stage during the night I heard “OH MY GOD, its my school skirt” I’m not sure if it was a good exclamation or a bad one as I couldn’t tell with the tone of her voice. She was supposed
to come down with us to visit Mam’s grave but as she only got to bed at 5 she was wrecked. We headed down without her. We unfortunately missed our turn and ended up in Mullingar, the last place you’d want to be. We hadn’t been in the town since Mam was sick and so it was the strangest
sensation of driving through it and out the road as we always used to do when we’d be coming back from visiting her. You think you’re grand and then for no reason this wave of grief and sense of loss just washes over you. Its so stupid and uncontrollable. I had a bit of it on the Sat when I was sorting
through the kid’s things. She still has Mam’s dressing gown which Mam pratically lived in when she was in the hospital. And the Get Well teddy we got her. If only teddies could make you feel better. Its hard to describe how frustrating and pointless it feels putting a lovely bunch of flowers on a plot of clay with her name on a stone beside it. It just doesn’t feel right.
We met up with the brother , his gf and her mate from Dublin for a bite to eat in Glasson. We tried out the other local pub for good, its not as good as Grogans but it was nice for a change. They don’t believe in vegetarian food. Or vegetarians for that matter as there was no option on the menu at all. Not even the old pasta dish some places throw together when they see you looking up and down the menu for the hidden veggie section. Then again it is farming terrority and we all know vegetarians don’t make farmers. Because they don’t want look at the livestock and envision them lying on a plate surrounded by gravy. I reckon that’s their take on it. We did some shopping on the way home and I got a new Westmeath hoody, to celebrate their promotion to Division 2. Something to lift the spirits on a low day. If you’re from Westmeath obviously. If you’re from Monaghan or Carlow, not so much. It was in the kiddie’s section, but its for 13 + so it just fits! Got home and watched the highlights of the games, as Dublin were playing Meath as well. That turned into a free for all, for a change. Those two always seem to bring out the best in each other. Roll on Saturday evening when we hopefully make up for the dismal first performence in the league when the Dubs beat us off the pitch.
