Music for a Found Harmonium

Did you ever listen to a piece of music and get goosebumps? The sister had been raving, not in the mad sense, although she can be a bit mad ;), about this piece of music herself and her man had heard whilst in Argentina and since then they had found out who it was and bought the album. The band are Patrick Street , the album, one of many is called Irish Times. I was doing some research for music for the mate’s bday playlist and I came across the piece of music and was blown away. When I checked the artist I realised it was the same crowd that the skin and blister was going on about. She was right, it is amazing. The album will have to be purchased. I haven’t been this moved by a piece of music since hearing Alison Krauss and Robert Plant’s collabration on Raising Sands. An album to die for, and I have a feeling Patrick Street’s stuff will be similar. I did some reading and there’s a reason why Patrick Street are so good, comprised of former members of De Dannan and arguably one of the greatest irish trad groups of our time, Plantxy. With that kind of talent you can’t really go wrong. I reckon its one to give the Chieftains a run for their money.

This week has been all work, all play and no mars bar. I managed to train twice this week, last night my partner looked like the type of bloke you don’t want to run into down a dark alley. He was fine though, only kicking hard when he missed the roundhouse and his toe caught my palm. I reckon his toe hurts more this morning though. I met Mammy2 after training and headed to her gym. Thankfully there were less women there this time and less showing of bits. I wanted to give the swimming pool another go so Mammy2 bought goggles for me. She had a theory that if I could see under the water I might not be as scared. So I managed to take a deep breath and drop my head under the water and she’s right its not that scary. I think its the whole swimming pool/might drown fear which I’m sure I will get over in time. When I got tired of trying to learn to float I just splashed around. I do fine for a bit and then I realise I’m floating and I panic and sink. All whilst cripping to the side for dear life obviously. There’s no way I am letting go of that. I am hoping that the more I get into the pool the more I
get used to it and eventually I will be able to swim. That’s the plan. In the meantime its lots of splashy splash :)
