New Job

It seems there are new jobs going around. Mammy2 starts her new job on Monday and the kid starts today. She only applied to the cosmectic place on Wed, she got a phone call an hour after submitting her cv calling her for an interview yesterday. She went along, did the interview was told the callbacks are before 6 and sure enough, out of 20 people, they were selecting 5 and they chose her. She’s delighted with herself. I just hope she likes it and it works out for her. She’s still talking about moving to Laois. The boyf was down there yesterday to see the house and it looks like they will be ready to move in at the start of September. The fact that they kept talking about it and there was no sign of an actual house then I was beginning to think it was never going to happen. But it looks like it might.

We got back from a few wonderful days holidays in the wilds of Clare to a messy apartment. It was obvious from her shocked face that she had no idea we would be home so early. It still didn’t explain the state of the place. I’m not sure if its since she moved out or what but she used to be quite clean, or perhaps us following her around with a sweeping brush made her clean up. The gentle influence of being chased with a brush. The holiday was great, but I think I should have taken the day off after we returned. The drive back from Doolin is a 4 hour one and when you consider we had an appointment with a different clinic on the same day, it was a bit much.

Doolin is a beatiful spot. Having never been before but hearing everyone go on about it, I was looking forward to a few days switching off. But first I had to get over the wedding of the mate D and catch up with old college mates. Thankfully the ex and his wife were a no-show.So it was only really catching up with N, the old college mate and his wife and it turned out to be a great night. The mate D looked great as did his lovely bride. Lots of dancing and general merriment. The wedding was in a hotel in Ennis and this being the weekend of firsts as I had never been to Ennis either. It has a bit of a medival feel to it , small narrow streets only fitting one car at a time and lots of hustle and bustle. Reminded me a bit of Galway and I would definetly go back there. It was onto the Cliffs of Moher and the lovely area of Doolin on the Saturday where we spent 4 relaxing days enjoying the irish traditional music, the food and sure the craic.

As an example of lovely us Orisih are, we dropped into McGanns one night for a trad sessiun. We got into a conversation with 2 american women. By the end of the night as we waved farewell to our friends, we knew both their histories, where they lived, how when we got over to Amerikay, we were all doing a roadtrip together. Think Themla and Louise Meets Mrs Doyle and Friend. We had their email addresses and a picture of them. Why I took a picture god only knows, it seems like the touristy thing to do. They were nice people but we missed most of the trad music as a result, because they had obviously kissed the blarney stone. The amount of tourists in the place is amazing, you’d wonder how they all heard of the place! I had to laugh at a group of them talking about the Cliffs of Moher and how its too touristy? They’re tourists here saying its too touristy? Mad feckers. We had once incident in a pub whereby Mammy2 overheard some child ask what cabbage was? Another mad bint wanted her irish stew without potatoes? I had a good mind to slap the chops off her. The barman patiently explained that its cooked with potatoes and even if he were to painstakingly remove them, and his look said he had no intention of doing so, there would be still traces of the lovely spud in there. Obviously she was allergic or something as she opted for fish and chips. The Guiness was flowing in every pub, I wonder what tourists make of the manky drink. If you haven’t been to Doolin, go visit!

Of course 4 days relaxing could only be followed by a rather stressful day in work. The workload was as big as when I had left and still no sign of another resource. The project manager is taken to rocking back and forth in the project update meetings every morning. Thankfully Friday morning equals cookies of some sort so it might soften the blow of how many days it is taking me to code all the processors. In my defence, there are the best part of 15 processors to be written so there is a lot of work. But its Friday :) Thank crunchie!
