The inclement weather
You have to love the irish. I mean really, we are a law onto ourselves. When it comes to the weather and a lot of other things but for the moment I shall
talk about the weather. We were due to fly back from Madrid on the Monday morning and our flight was delayed by 2 hours due to the weather in Dublin. The plane had to be de-iced twice. Thankfully we got back on time, as the airport closes at around 6. Headines such as
Bad weather causes further traffic disruption
Snow brings chaos, absenteeism and fun
Severe weather warning still in place
Travel disrupted as cold snap continues
shows just how prepared we are. Supposedly, Dublin Bus is refusing to go off the main routes as lack of gritting is causing chaos. Its a bit of snow. Have you seen London recently? I mean that’s snowfall. This smittering of snow hardly warrents a severe weather warning. Then again when the wind goes above 40km we issue severe weather warnings. Aside from the ‘traffic chaos’ it looked lovely falling yesterday. Walking home in it was a different story, it had turned to sleet and as a result I arrived home looking like someone had thrown a bucket of water over me. The kid cancelled sister’s night due to the weather. I wonder how many people got to use it has an excuse. I didn’t mind too much as only being back from Madrid I had stuff I wanted to get off my to do list. Like eat a proper dinner.
Madrid was lovely. As cities go, its picturesque, lots of history and loads of cafes and restaurents. But I wasn’t overly impressed with it. Whilst people rave about tapas and spanish food in general, if you are a vegetarian or even worse a picky eater such as moi then you are in trouble. They love their
ham and meat, so much so that there are more then 4 Museum De Jambons scattered throughout the city. I stood outside blessing myself whilst Mammy2 sampled the delights of it. The tapas are varied and food is served almost everywhere. Its just a shame I’m a big fan of carbs. Potatoes all the way ![]()
We managed to locate the gay area and found a lovely gay bookshop which had so much rainbow stuff, we nearly exploded with excitement! We just had to purchase a rainbow bath towel
Yes, we are that gay. We found a lovely little cafe, which was filled with gay brothers. Some of whom found us interesting. Not sure whether they were trying to figure out if we’re gay or we’re a couple but we provoked much interest. Not many lesbians to be seen, but lots of lovely gay men. All fabulous looking of course.
But I was glad to get home. I still think Rome can’t be beaten. For the sights, the history, the people and the food. It has it all. Speaking of the food, I must remember to pack a 12 pack of tayto if we do go ahead with our plan for Croatia for the summer hols. I think I am one of the few people who arrive
back from holidays having lost weight
Due to the holiday and the potential trip to the clinic next week, we are not spending or going out over the next few weeks. I’m not sure how I feel about the clinic. Without the authority of the OPK and relying solely on my body’s signals, its going to be interesting. I’m scared that it won’t work the first time and I’m scared that it will. I just don’t know what to expect and whilst trying to keep the stress levels down I get stressed about trying not to be stressed. Its a viscious cycle. Thankfully though Mammy2 will be able to come along. With the whole economy fiasco, her job is looking a bit unsteady and she was worried she might not be able to get time off. I am lucky to be in a job where I can put in for a day or half day at short notice. Whilst there is no big project on. Obviously. This may change when I start to get hammered with work. I can just see the conversation with my boss then. I’m sure no boss needs to hear the words day off, insemination, danish man, even the most approachable of of them
