A nice long weekend beckons

Myself and Mammy2 took this coming Monday off so as well as Paddies day we have a nice long weekend. We’re taking the time to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. Yes, as lesbians there are many many anniversaries but the main ones we celebrate is our first date and our wedding one. Technically the first date was on the 26th but as that falls on a Thursday we decided a long weekend was in order to mark the occasion. Even though it was 10 years ago I vividly remember that first week of meeting her and chasing her and finally catching her :) To save you some cringe inducing mush
about how fantabulous she is and how much I love her etc, I’ll break it into dates and one sentence how’s that?

Sun 14, 1999 :The George - Finally meet her after hearing much talk about how fab she is, tried to get her attention and was ignored.

Wed Mar 17, 1999 : The George, Again - As is fitting for Paddies day, drank my way to the G and ended up falling alsleep on her shoulder, getting her number and getting her to walk me home. Smooth

Thurs Mar 18, 1999 : Outhouse, Thursday night meeting, hungover to high hell, she shows up..beyond nervous, head to the G, noticing a pattern here, flirt as best I can. No reaction.

Mon 22, 1999 - After much consultation with everyone and anyone about how does a woman ask another woman out, I pluck up the courage, I ring her house, get her out of bed after a night of oscar watching and ask her to go see a movie on the Friday and she accepts.

Fri 26, 1999 - Meet her at the Gaiety, go to Luigi Malones for a meal neither of us could eat we were so nervous, went what was then Virgin Cinema, didn’t make it to the movie as we spent the evening chatting. Ended the evening on a hug.

the rest as they say is history.

There, that wasn’t too bad?

I was out sick on Monday and tuesday. Hate taking sick days but had zero energy and was feeling generally mopey. I think the lack of success at last month’s attempt finally caught up with me. My ovaries have decided they are amazons and don’t need no man. Eejits. I never said they needed a man, just some sperm. Anyhew, we’re skipping this month to give my body a rest and to give the bank a/c a rest. With a 5% pay cut looming and another budget we also need to be sensible about things.

The weekend is already knocking the bank balence on its head. We have an auntie’s 70th, a long lunch followed by drinks and the match and on the Sunday Mammy2 has booked us into the Old Schoolhouse which is where we had our honeymoon all those years ago. We’re having a meal at the restaurent and staying over. So looking forward to it.
