Putting things into perspective
I was going to rant, I was going to give out about how sometimes being an administrator is a thankless task, about how after 6 years, 2 with the GCN forum and another 4 with angrypotato, I am as close as I’ll ever be to chucking it all in. A couple of things made me pause for thought, the main one being this headline
Natasha Richardson, actress, dies at 45 and then you go “okay, wait a minute” So no rants. This woman has passed away at aged 45. My heart goes out to Liam Neeson , his 2 sons who are left without a mother and Vanessa Redgrave who has lost a daughter. I still remember vividly her amazing performence as Joan Didion in The year of Magical Thinking last year. Her potrayal of Joan’s grief harrowing and so very real. My thoughts are with the them all at this tragic time.
I have the theme tune to Rocky in my head at the mo. A workmate was horrifed at the fact that I had never seen it. I had caught moments but never sat through a whole movie. The workmate loaded me his Rocky collection and I’m up as far as Rocky VI which I have yet to watch. Its a great movie, well the first 2 were. The 3rd one was slightly weak even if it did have Hulk Hogan and Mr T in it. I was so captivated that I went training yesterday. The day after Paddies day. I impressed myself. Not that Paddies day was a wild one. We headed to the parade, got a really good spots and basked in the 12 degree sunshine. The tourists didn’t know what to make of the large orange/yellowish orb in the sky that was emitting heat. After a weekend of rugby and 70th bday bashes, we took it easy on the day. The mate S came into town to meet us, so we all headed for lunch after the parade and then onto a trad session in a pub near our place. The place was hopping but it was nowhere near as bad as town, which was starting to get scary. The mood had shifted from when we were at the parade to one of drunken debauchery and this was only 4 o’clock.
Lovely to logon to various international news websites and see the headlines, Drunken irish on rampage. Charming.
