The things you do

For family. Par example, for most of mother’s day I lost the feeling in my left arm due to the kid holding onto it for dear life whilst blessing herself numerous times and screaming every other 5 mins. Our anti-mothers day horror night went well. The Unborn had quite a few jumpy moments, one where even I screamed. When the need for the toilet became too much, I had to accompany the kid and stand outside the door. It was that scary. Once she had finished screaming, she’d catch her breath and go “This is BRILLIANT!! So the more she’s scared, the better the film. According to her. Also the less power I have in either arm. At one stage she was sitting in my lap, fingers clutching either shoulder and head buried down between her knees. Its her idea of a good movie. She got me a mother’s day pressie of 2 packets of tayto. She explained that she had tried to find some white sliced pan for the tayto sandwiches but any of the shops she popped into. Bless her cottens.

Onto the brother. I don’t know if you have a brother or not but I used to find them alien creatures not big into washing and more into embaressing you. However, the brother has matured ever so slightly. He’s been a member of the FCA for the last 10 years and as a result has a medal ceremony coming up. To which we are invited to. In Athlone where there are potentially other relatives, whom I normally only have to put up with once a year at Mam’s mass when they corner the sister K and we have to launch a rescue plan to get her out. The weekend the ceremony is on, next weekend as with most weekends in April is busy for us, with something on the Friday and Saturday. Normally this is enough going for Mammy2 without having to travel all the way down to Athlone. I tried explaining this to the bro and got back a direct to the juglar email along the lines of “would have been nice if you could have come down” Well, of course it would have been nice but with everything on it just wasn’t going to happen but guilt got its evil clutches into me. Found me at a weakened moment, where I have the sniffles AND am pmting. So Mammy2 has suggested she take the monday off and we can travel down. I have emailed him to tell him this and ask him exact timelines regarding the ceremony, knowing the irish army these things could go on all day. And so help me but if I see an aunty, there will be war.
