Lions, Tigers and Lady Gaga

For once it appears I am on the same wavelength as other music fans. I have discovere Lady GaGa whilst she is still famous as opposed to my Lily Allen discovery a few weeks only to find out how retro she is. A mate in work loaned me Lady GaGa’s cd and I have to say there are catchy numbers on it. The sister-in-law mentioned how weird she appeared on Jonathen Ross so I youtbued the interview and sure enough she was stand offish and appeared not to think much of Jonathen Ross which is no loss really as he’s a tosser. But as with youtube, you never really go watch the video and then just leave. Youtube acts like a black hole luring you in with no way out. Sure enough I was lost in GaGa land. Interestingly enough there was another interview with GaGa as she likes to be referred to and she was talking with Paul O’Grady aka Lily Savage and the difference was amazing! She was warm, funny, chatty and seemed to engage much more with the audience. So she’s not totally weird. Jonathen Ross is a muppet. Which we already knew.

I think I have only now recovered from the madness of the weekend involving rugby, rugby and celebrating. Munster V Leinster. Black Sunday. Heineken cup. I am a bigger fan of international rugby then the provincial stuff but when the missus is so into it you have to don the blue jersey and support Leinster. Which I did. The sister-in-law got us tickets, myself, mammy2, the sister-in-law A and the other sister-in-law I don’t really get along with but put up with because she’s family. From the outset no-one including ourselves I think gave Leinster a chance. Munster are such a strong team, there are few international teams that could beat them let alone a provincial team and with Leinster not exactly setting the Magners League alight I think some of the fans were hoping it wasn’t going to be a masscare.

It was my first time in Croker for a rugby game and its very different to GAA in every sense of the word. From ham sandwiches to crepes. From the atmosphere to the fans. The cheering, the songs, the flag waving, the noise was deafening. From the kick off, it as obvious this game was not going to be a repeat of the hammering Leinster took at the hands of Munster 3 years ago. They were determined to oblitirate that memory. Oblitirate is exactly what they did. Man for man, all over the pitch they played out of their skins. I have sat through many leinter games, one of the conditions on the pre-nup ;) and I have never seen them play like this. It was as if it was the final for them. I guess they got tired of everyone writing them off. The previous week it was all Munster into the final, a formality they said. Leinster had other ideas. Not to just win, but to win so convincingly. Munster didn’t score after the 33rd minute. On a number of occasions they got close , mere metres from the Leinster try line but they could not cross it. Outstanding tries from Darce, Luke Fitzgerald and BOD made it a beautiful day for the blues. To say that Mammy2 and A were happy was an understatement. They were estatic. There was sparking wine, beer, more wine, more beer and more celebrations followed by the chant of Leinster and Molly Malone. It was a day to be savoured. Apparently, Mammy2 claims the hangover the following day was even great.

Leinster now go on to face Leicester in the final on Saturday May 23rd. The Lions versuses The Tigers. We are in Holland for it. But you can be guaranteed Mammy2 will track down an irish bar that’s showing it. First Heineken Cup Final for Leinster with a chance of taking home the trophy? Damn right she will ;) Thankfully the sister K is very understanding Mammy2’s obession with the funny shaped ball being a big rugby fan herself.
