Grey wet Mondays
What a way to start the week? I think I need a holiday. This keeping your days for clinic visits is all well and good in theory but in practice its a lot more difficult. Okay so we’ve had 2 holidays this year, Madrid on Jan and Holland in May but its a long year and sometimes you need more then a day’s break from the work environment. Well I do anyways
Still I’m not dreading autumn/winter as much cause I know the build up to christmas starts soon. Mammy2 is chomping at the bit to get back into the ruggers. The magners league season starts this Sat for Leinster so she’s all excited. She got her supporters pack last week complete with scarf that actually says Leinster Season Ticket Holder 2009. Needless to say I won’t be seen out with her. I printed out the fixtures list just to see how we can organise our social life for the next 7 months. Even when there is a break in the matches, thats for the internationals or the Heineken cup. I might as well resign myself to the fact. We’re in rugby season.
With the news of the Civil Partnership bill preparing to go through in Autumn, myself and Mammy2 are getting more excited about the prospect of actually having some sort of legal recognition of our 10 year relationship next year. We had a lot of discussion around it, as she is of the opinion its not enough whereas I think we take what’s on offer and continue to fight for full rights. So it looks like next year we’ll be getting married. All over again
This time I want to wear a wedding dress. Not like a major lemon meringue attacked me, but something nice and white. I think Mammy2 might be entertaining notions of wearing a dress as well
We’re talking about where to have it, where the reception should be and so on. She is totally against anywhere with a dance floor. I think she wants to avoid aunty putting hip out to rock the boat or uncle doing his best redintion of Tom Jones The Green Fields of home. I suppose there will lots to plan. In the meantime we wait for it to become law and then we party!
Next year is looking like an expensive one. Starting in Jan on Mammy2’s side, the brother-in-law has his 40th. Then onto May for the brother’s 30th, June for the father-in-law’s 70th
and the kid’s 21st, also on June is one of the nephew’s communion and then into August for hopefully our civil ceremony if it gets through. And this is all after the smallest titch of them all joins us in Dec
Speaking of occasions, the brother’s engagment do is next Sat. Whilst I am looking forward to celebrating with him and his future missus I could do without the extra relatives he will be inviting. I am pretty sure I’ll see our local postman there. The brother is that kind of guy. Everyone and anyone will be there including some relatives I’d rather avoid. Thankfully we have persuaded the kid to join us so we shall pick a table, sit down and circle the wagons for a while. The kid will distract attention away from us anyways as its been a while since the relatives have seen her and there will of course be the usual talk of college and so on. Its going to be a fun night.
