Eurosong
Friday was always going to be an exciting night with our eurosong final being on telly and us getting to choose who will represent us in Oslo this year. But it got way more exciting when a mate mentioned she had procured 2 tickets to the actual late late show and was I interested? Was I interested?! Is the pope a nazi? Of course I was interested. The big question was how do I persuade Mammy2 to drive us out there and maintain an interest when she couldn’t even avail of the free wine. Thankfully she was still a bit hungover from date night and so once she got a sleep before we headed out to Donnybrook she seemed happy. Once out there she was overwhelmed by the amount of gay boys and older people that were at the drinks reception. She also thought it quite funny that the poor regular late late show goers seemed bemused by the fact that there was so much gayness around. I mean, its the eurovision , how could it not be gay. The show itself was brilliant with Johnny Logan and Dana being amongst the guests. Niamh Kavanagh’s was easily the best among the songs, her voice is amazing and the song is quite strong with just enough twee in the shape of the whilstle playing to keep the Oirish flag flying. I spent some time on Saturday morning going through the other entries and I have to say there’s not a lot of songs that are jumping out at me, compared to last year. The betting odds at the moment have Norway in as favs and as Mammy2 said its another cute gay boy. She pondered if they had a conveyor belt of young cute and talented young fellas. I’ll wait until the rest of the finalists have been chosen before going through then and reviewing them.
After the excitement of the Friday the rest of the weekend was very quiet. Thankfully, I need some downtime. We caught up with the mate S on Sunday before the Leinster game. She’s in great form, thinks are still going really well with her and the gf and she came out to her dad. Which is huge. She was chuffed it went so well, she had all these different arguments prepared and once she
told him, he asked if she was happy and then he said he was happy if that was the case. She reckons Fair City has a lot to do with him being educated in the ways of the lesbians. I suppose its something to thank it for. However her poor gf is not having as easy a time of her. Her parents hit the roof and are acting like children over it. So things are a bit stressful for them but the two of them still seem madly in love with each other which is so cute. She was heading onto meet the gf for dinner and a friend of the gf’s so we headed to watch the rugby in a non-soccer pub. Which is difficult to find. Everywhere seems to be showing actor ball which I am not a fan of as you can tell
