The Mammies blog started in late 2004 and came about as after a conversation that Mammy1 and Mammy2 had about how their life had changed after inheriting a teenager and wouldn’t it be fun to keep track of the ups and downs of life with aforementioned teenager. Mammy2’s mother passed away leaving an distraught and disgruntled teenager of 14 years.
To say she was a handful was an understatement. The girl had her whole world turned upside down. From the safety and comfort of rural Ireland, the girl was landed in Dublin city, to live with Mammy1 and Mammy2 whilst her mother was very ill in hospital. She adjusted to life in a two parent family without her mother and the two mammies adjusted to life with her.
This blog has followed their lives since 2004 to the present day. The updates are mostly by Mammy1 as Mammy2 is too busy living life to record it.
